This philosophy was reviewed in consultation with children, families and educators.
We value and respect this important stage of childhood and believe that every child is given a purpose, a unique ability to make their own mark on the world. In recognising this, we are committed to providing a high-quality service where children feel safe, supported and confident to be themselves. Through play-based learning and professional judgement, we provide care that is meaningful, responsive and guided by the needs, interests and voices of the children in our care.
We strive to create a safe, secure and nurturing environment that feels like a second home. Our environment is intentionally planned and adapted in response to children’s ideas, supporting both active and quiet play, comfort and relaxation, and engaging experiences that promote wellbeing, safety and enjoyment. We recognise that children thrive when they feel a sense of ownership and belonging within their environment.
Children at Purpose OOSH are active participants in shaping their experience. Through ongoing conversations, group discussions and reflection, children share their ideas about play opportunities, equipment, quiet spaces, indoor options during wet weather, safety and shared food experiences. Their feedback informs our program, environment and daily practices, ensuring children feel heard, valued and respected.
We understand that the relationships and experiences children have during this stage of life leave a lasting impression. Just as every fingerprint is different, each child brings something unique to our service and, in return, our service leaves a positive mark on them. We aim to support children to grow in confidence, resilience and wellbeing through experiences that are thoughtful, intentional and grounded in care.
We are committed to supporting children’s learning, wellbeing and development by continually strengthening our professional practice. Educators actively engage in professional development and training to enhance their knowledge and skills, allowing us to provide informed, reflective and responsive care.
Our philosophy is grounded in the principles of being, belonging and becoming. We believe every child has a voice and deserves to feel included and respected throughout their OOSH journey. Relationships within our service are built on kindness, trust and fun, supporting children to feel confident, connected and secure.
We value respectful and collaborative partnerships with families and recognise them as children’s first teachers. Through open communication and shared decision-making, children, families, educators, local schools and our wider community are actively involved in events, program development and the ongoing growth of our service.
Purpose OOSH operates in accordance with the National Law and Regulations and is guided by the My Time, Our Place Framework, ensuring our practices remain current, reflective and responsive to children, families and our community.
